Even though it hasn't been a full week since I sent my last email, and a decent amount of things had gone down. First of all, the zone saw some crazy success this last week. If yall remember, we had Elder Cordón come last week and he helped us out a ton, specifically with how to teach the sabbath day. Because of that, and the diligence of the Zone, we were able to get a 6 week high of 45 people a church, which is like 12 people more than the earlier high, and we had one less day to preoselyte due to the meeting. We also had 3 baptisms happen in the zone! Hopefully it's only up from here
Highlights:
- playing pickleball in a hotel in Kingston with the other ZLs the night before, and morning of MLC
- MLC with Elder Cordón was a banger. It helped my companionship with a lot of questions that we had on what we can do better to improve ourselves and the zone. One of my favorite items we touched on were study plans, and these things are fine. My study plan this last week has truly helped my testimony grow. I'll share more of that later.
- I went on an exchange with Elder Yates in Old Harbour again. We had a pretty good day where we tried a new method of finding. That originated in New York. Well definitely be trying it out more, but we saw some good successes from it. Hopefully it'll continue to help us out
- We found a cool family and the mom at least came to church. They were taught by missionaries before so hopefully we'll be able to help them progress. I may be planning a wedding out here, but i won't be getting my hopes up too high
- I was talking to Bro Ferrari earlier today and we're just chatting a likkle patwa ya know and he just stops, and says in his white voice "wow you sound white" the story Is a lot funnier when you watch the video. Check out the Google photos album
- baked a cake for our favorite member that participates in lessons. Hence the MPL cake. Richard Miller is the goat. Best EQP in Jamaica fi true ya know
Spiritual thought:
Like I said earlier, Elder Cordón really hit keeping the Sabbath day holy at the zone conference. Something he said really stood out and it went something like this
What you do on your first sabbath day home from the mission will determine how much you learned on your mission. If you go home and watch all the Disney movies you missed while you were gone with your family, and doing x, x, and x, you didn't learn anything.
The Sabbath day really is a bigger deal than we make it out to be. It's part of the 10 commandments, not the 10 suggestions. We read in Exodus 31:13 that what we do on the sabbath day shows how much we love the Lord. Yesterday, I tried my hardest to truly show the Lord I love Him, and it was probably one of the best sabbath I've had on my mission, if not my life. It truly became a delight, like its promised in Isaiah 58:13-14.
Big up,
Elder Turnbow
