Imagine Being From Kansas

First of all, before I share how my week went, I'd like to throw some shade at my lovely dear companion, Elder McDavitt. Who unfortunately comes from the bland state of Kansas. We have found out in the last 3 days that the only thing that they have that's worth anything is dust, twisters, and a YMCA (Whatever that is, he has yet to tell us what it stands for). Anyways, onto more important topics.

This week has been like the slowest and fastest week of my life. We finished up our last online classes on Monday then had the whole day Tuesday to do whatever because I wasn't traveling from out of state. I ended up going to the temple twice that day to go with my dear madre, and another time with my siblings. In between temple trips I went to a Jamaican Food truck with my dear family. The stuff was actually crazy good, besides some weird egg looking thing that dissipates in your mouth like cotton candy.

Wednesday I got dropped off at the Provo MTC. I'll admit I did cry. I know I know big shocker but it's whatever I guess. But ever since I got dropped off it's been nonstop parties. Whether we're in class or whatever else we're doing, the people in my district know how to have a good time. Whether we're making fun of Kansas Boy, Elder Swain and Sister Blake for doing secret combinations on zoom, hearing Kansas boy complain about anybody that does anything that is slightly irritating to him, and trying to get him to get out of the dorm faster than a teenage girl. Nothing really besides that has happened. Just a lot of classes, eating, studying, and playing secret judas (hitler).

Spiritual Thought:
I want to talk about the Atonement for this week's thought. Recently we've been talking about how to teach our investigators on the field the Plan of Salvation. Talking about the Atonement is probably my favorite part of the lesson.
We as sinning humans in an imperfect world are not able to live in a perfect and holy place such as Heaven. We had to have someone that is willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our sins so that we may become pure someday. I referred to this as a bank during one of my classes this week and I thoroughly enjoy the analogy. We can't afford to buy a house, or get into heaven with our financial or spiritual balance in our accounts. We had to have the bank, or Jesus Christ, pay the debt off in full so that we can afford it. As we slowly pay off our mortgages or spiritual debt by living our life faithfully, we can eventually return to Heaven. I bear witness that this is the truth. Whenever we practice teaching in class I feel the spirit so strongly the Atonement is true and encourage y'all to study up on it and to pray about it yourselves

Don't be afraid to reach out to me on Messenger or Email. I would love to hear about life outside these fences lmao.

Love y'all stay safe,
Elder Turnbow
