Wah gwan y'all, we've made it another week. It was quite possibly the longest and shortest week of my mission. Everyday felt like it was going by so fast, but the actual week went by so slowly. Transfers happened this last week and there was a decent amount of people being shuffled around. My dear comp, Elder Stone, had the privilege of driving people around and in our district for a solid 12 hours to get everyone to their new areas. Me and Elder Stone will be staying in Portmore for the remainder of his mission.
Our
friends have been doing pretty good, Ms. Dixon is still on date, but she
hasn't hasn't able to come to church for the last 2 weeks because of
back pain and stuff like that. The adversary is real. Ever since she was
put on date, her pain has been getting worse and not allowing her to
come to church. I think she'll be fine though, she's a trooper. I've
also been praying hard for her husband to come to church so he can get
baptized as well. I think he was planning on coming this week if Ms.
Dixon was feeling better. Let's hope they'll be able to come next week!
Jamaica
itself is amazing. I love living, and teaching the people here. They're
so laid back and don't have a care in the world. They all work so hard
each and everyday to make ends meet, but they're almost never stressed.
I'm so impressed by all of their mindsets and I hope to obtain a little
bit of it before I go back to the states. I've got 21.5 months left so
that should be attainable, right?
Highlights:
Since
we have the van, we've been able to explore more of our area. Before
we'd only been able to travel to about 1/3 of it because of taxi money
issues. Now since we have the van, we were able to see the beach and
proselyte around it as well.
Elder Walton came to replace Elder Hafen. He's a dawg and honestly one of the funniest people I know.
Went
on an exchange with Spanish Town. There was a massive rainstorm and I
was soaked. Of course I only brought 1 shirt with Me, so we ended up
going back to the house and doing phone work for the rest of the night
Mangos are way better fresh off the tree than bought in store in the states
Spiritual thought:
I
know I've kinda been talking about prayer a lot in the past couple
emails, but my testimony of it keeps getting stronger by the week.
Something one of of ZLs told me a couple weeks ago on an exchange was
that he started to pray for referrals (someone found in another area, or
online that lives in your area) a couple of weeks before the exchange.
After he started praying for them he started getting tons of them. I
decided to try it out because it doesn't hurt to try. Ever since then,
we've been getting close to 1 referral everyday, If not more. It's
really crazy because we probably went 3 or 4 weeks with close to no
referrals, then Wham, a bunch of them back to back. God is in the little
things. God is also a God of Miracles.
