Ups and downs

First of all, I'd like to apologize this was supposed to be sent out but our phones are pretty trash. New phones in this mission are inspired of the Lord, let me tell ya. Anyways back to our regularly scheduled program

Wah gwan mi generals. It's been another week for sure. They say the weeks are fast and the days are short, but that just wasn't the case this week. I'm in desperate need of a P-day to say to say least.

Elder Hafen and I have been trying to work hard this last week. We've been getting a good amount of lessons in and we're seeing some growth in our friends that we've been teaching. Mr Dixon is still right there on the edge of being baptized. He's so ready and I hope I get to see it happen. We gave Ms. Dixon a priesthood blessing a couple days ago to help her with her aging body aches and the next time we visited she was telling us about how much it's been working. Mr. Dixon is literally witnessing miracles right in front of him. It's just a matter of time before he makes the decision for himself.

We started teaching a new friend in the last week or so and she seems to be really promising. She's really smart and knows how a church should be run. Lucky for us, our church is run exactly how she thinks it should be. We also have a lot of weird holes in the Church record concerning unbaptized people with church records. Some of them are unbaptized youth that were trying to teach. Just anotha dayah pon da work.

We got transfer news on Saturday night. For all of you that haven't served a mission. Transfer week is probably the most nerve wrecking thing. Everybody wants to know what's going to happen and there are plenty of theories that go around at least the zone about what's going to happen. None of us are able to get it down 100%, but we have some guesses that end up pretty close. Elder Hafen and I will he staying in Portmore together for another transfer, which will put each of us at 3 transfers here by the end, so it'll be interesting to see what happens in 6 weeks.

We had an exchange with the Zone Leaders in Kingston, and I was the lucky one to go to their area. Our day consisted of walking for an hour, mostly uphill, to be able to look at one of thr craziest views I've seen here tobgo and teach someone literally every single lesson so she could be baptized this last Saturday. She had been taught by a friend that lives in Florida and was unaware that she needed to be taught by missionaries for her to get baptized. So I kid you not when I say we spent 2 hours teaching/revisiting everything she needed to know to get baptized. It was an interesting experience for sure. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I also feel like I'm finally getting ahold of all of this missionary stuff. Training lasting 2 transfers is inspired, especially when you come to Jamaica straight out of the MTC. Nothing they teach you in there truly prepared me for this. Nonetheless I'm getting confident in my abilities and I'm starting to truly love the work. When I don't work as hard my mood actually gets worse, and as soon as we get out and start teaching or talking to people I feel so much better.

Spiritual thought:
Something that's been on my mind this last week is the difference between faith and being faithful. They sound very similar, but very different at the same time. The conclusion that I've come to is that faith is your belief, or your knowledge of our Heavenly Father, His son, Jesus Christ, and their teachings. Being faithful is having the faith to act. Everybody says they have faith, but it really comes to the test when you see how faithful they truly are. You can have as much faith as you want, but if you willing to act on it, and be faithful, it doesn't matter in the long run. I encourage you all to think about how much faith you have, and how faithful you're willing to be.
