Wah gwan mi generals, wah ya deya pon? Nothing too crazy this week. However our transfer got extended a week so all the hype that got built up disintegrated immediately when the text got sent out.
This
week we kinda popped off on the missionary work though. We got more
than double of our finding goal, and almost doubled our member present
lesson goal. We're finally getting to the point that we can go from
lesson to lesson instead of street contacting. Street contacting is
literally my least favorite thing about missionary work, so I'm not
complaining at all!
I
went on an exchange with Linstead again this week. This time I went with
Elder Egan, and we had an absolute blast. He's such a dawg! We taught
this family they're teaching and it was super good. They have coconut
trees in their backyard so they climbed up it on the sketchiest ladder
known to mankind and twisted them off and tossed some down to us. I
found out that they call unripe coconuts "jelly" and I was super
confused by it. So we drank the juice and the dad proceeded to cut them
in half and scrape out this stuff in the middle. It literally looked
like actually Jelly that you put on your sandwiches, except without the
grape or strawberry. It was really interesting to try, definitely not in
a rush to have another one.
On
Friday we had a lesson with my boy Roy. However he did not show up to
our meeting place. So we walked around the place a little bit looking
for him. While we were doing so, a guy came up to us and started asking
genuine questions about what we share. Out of nowhere he asks us if we
want to buy some weed from him. When we tell him no, he starts cussing
at us, hands us back the pamphlets we gave him, and walks away. What's
really funny is that he used American cuss words. No one uses American
cuss words unless they're talking to us and they use about every single
one in the book. It's quite comical if I do say so myself.
Sorry I don't have have many good stories this week. Hopefully I'll get some good ones for next week.
Spiritual thought:
This
week in come follow me was focused on the last supper, Jesus washing
his disciples feet, and suffering in the garden of Gethsemane. I really
liked how in John's record in John 13 it focuses on Peter's commitment
to Jesus Christ. He originally didn't want the Savior to wash his feet,
but right after he was told that if Jesus didn't wash his feet, he
wouldn't have any part of him with him. After he learned this info he
wanted Christ to not only wash his feet, but to wash his hands and his
head as well. I strive to be as committed to Christ as Peter is.
