Whi pri mi generals, it's been another week. Definitely more eventful than last week's, so hopefully I can write a better email. Big ups to all of you that actually read these and respond. Please respond;)
Highlights:
-transfer week, which consisted of seeing lots of missionaries, meeting new ones, saying goodbyes to missionaries that I may not see until I'm home, and lots of time pon da road
-We had a pretty hype district Council this week. I put wayyy to much effort Into making fun for everyone. I made a Jeopardy game based off of scriptures to teach the restoration lesson. It was fun, and well be able to finish it this next upcoming week. I'll let yall know how that goes
-after said district Council, I was told to drive all the way to Kingston again to pick up papers that I forgot to pick up on transfer day 2 days earlier. The day before we also got a hole in one of our tires so we had to spend a whole leap of time trying to get all of tha fixed and sorted out. Everything ended up taking wayyy more time than expected and we ended up staying the night at the AP's apartment. I literally brought my proselyting scriptures and the clothes on my back. So it was not the funnest experience to have to sleep bare mattress right underneath the AC that was making me freeze to death. I ended up getting off the bed to sleep on the couch so I didn't perish. The AP's are actually super fun to be around so I didn't mind it as much as I should've for the circumstances. Also probably the closest thing I've ever gotten, and ever will get to a one-night-stand. Anyways we drive the 3 hours home. Literally 3 seconds of being home, we realize one of the AP's left their keys in the car. We call them, and we have to hurry and shower and meet them at a halfway point to get them their keys. Its a good thing I was already planning on doing an exchange that night or else I would've been pretty pissed to have to drive all the way back out there. However, I am cranking out these hours pon di road. Probably got a solid 25 hours of driving in this week as well.
-power went out for like an hour. We had this super dope likl lamp thing like in the Bible story about the virgins. Didn't think they still existed in 2023, but in the bush of St. Thomas, they're still about 60 years behind the U.S.
-had an exchange with Elder Mangum. He's lived all over the world because his dad's part of government security stuff. He was pretty dope to find out more about and tings like that
-we had the mission devo last night and one of the members in Jamaica that's apparently a doctor hopped on the zoom and overloaded us with info for about 40 minutes. I don't remember anything but "were not saving private Ryan today. We're trying to save our privates" and my comp said she mentioned something about sticking a pill up somewhere but I don't remember anything about that.
Spiritual thought:
Recently I've really been liking listening to Pres Nelson's "Peacemakers Needed" talk from April this year. There's been a lot of people around me recently that have really been pissing me off, and it would make me really happy just to slap them really hard, or hit em in the gut. However, that's not what Christ would do, so its not something I will do, not matter how much I want to or they deserve it. Being a disciple of Christ is so much more than keeping commandments and making covenants, it's being an example to everyone around you that you're willing to love thy neighbor as thyself and to treat everyone the way Christ would. I'm sure there were some people that Jesus Christ wasn't incredibly fond of, however he just loved them and if He had any ill feelings, he didn't show them. Let's all be better peacemakers;)
If ya made it this far, big up yuhself, now shoot me an email kk
Respec,
Elder Turnbow
