Wah gwan hope yall are doing great. I don't know what to do for these intros anymore so don't be afraid to shoot me an email back to give me some ideas;)
-Start us off right. We had our first in-person district Council this week, led by yours truly. We usually have these every week over zoom since our areas are so far spread out. So it was nice having my first taste of living the states mission life. It's sooo much better to do these in person so that people will actually participate, compared to people hiding behind their phones on zoom, just like I did in high school;)
- The next day we had our zoom zone conference. They talked a lot about making sure that our scripture studies are meaningful and helping us grow compared to just seeking out Kolob and other useless things that you're never gonna have to teach or talk about. It was really powerful and I'm definitely going to rethink how I do my personal studies so I can learn as much as I can, so I can help others as much as I can (See D&C 11:21 for doctrinal reference)
- I went on an exchange with Elder Millward, one of the Zone Leaders. He's an awesome guy from Morgan. I haven't had good conversation like I had with him in a long time. We literally talked Utah high school sports all day long and it was awesome. He's leaving for the Bahamas next week when transfers hit so I won't be able to see him for a while, which is definitely a likl bummy.
- My dear mother, Tracy, had her birthday last week on Saturday. Pretty sure she's about 2874829373829 years old now, so she's had a lot of people wish her happy birthday throughout the years, but it'd make my day if you'd reach out to her and wish her happy birthday for me:)
- we had a likl ruckus at church yesterday. We had a phenomenal service and Sunday school, and the spirit was definitely there. Then one of our recent converts that hasn't been to church at all since I've been here came out during the last 2 minutes of Sunday school and caused a commotion that definitely chased the spirit away so fast. Thankfully I had 3 years of experience as a lifefuard with adults that don't know how to properly express their feelings so I was able to deescelate the situation a lot better than i thought I would be able to.
Spiritual thought:
Sometime recently we had one of our recent converts, named Stephanie (who is literally the most elect individual btw) had some questions about grace. It was at this moment that I realized that I knew nothing about grace or how it even truly worked. This last week I spent a decent amount of time reading different scriptures and different addresses from general authorities to get the best answer I could. First of all, let me just say wow, God is soo good. He has tons of faith in us that we can succeed and become as he is, that He's given us this marvelous plan to help us in every shape and every form. All we have to do is trust the plan, and do what it says. It's definitely a lot easier said and done. But He's provided a way to accomplish it (See 1 nephi 3:7). Trust in Him. Trust in His plan. It definitely isn't easy, but it's worth it.
That's about it for the week. I love you all and miss yall so much!! Shoot me an email, i love to hear from yall!!
Likl more,
Elder Turnbow
