Wah gwan mi fadas! I once again wish and pray that all of you are doing fantastic in whatever you're doing. Your Lord and Savior loves you, and so do I
. Anyways, let's get back pon di highlights dem
Highlights:
- gave a talk yesterday in sacrament meeting. Ended up being way shorter than I thought it would, but don't worry, we still filled the time because we had 2 area 70s there (Elder Cordón, who spoke in conference in October, and Elder Jean Baptiste), half of the stake presidency, the Mandeville district president, and my mission president. Stacked sacrament meeting out of nowhere honestly. To top it off, we usually have like 3 or so friends pull up to sacrament meeting, same with the other Elders. On this day, and only this day, NONE of our friends showed up. However, we did get a inactive couple that hadn't bee to church in like 15 or so years, so I'd call it successful enough.
- went on an exchange with Elder Asay. This is my 3rd transfer in a row serving around him in the same district. It was so hype just to go and clown around with him and share the gospel to everyone we come in contact with. After we ended the exchange, it was too late for them to drive home. So we had an 8 man for the night and it was lit. Our local service missionary that lives with us was searching up beats on YouTube, and we were just all trying our best to freestyle. Some of us were pretty good, others (such as I) couldn't do it very well at all. Either way it was hype. We got the whole restoration lesson in and everything
- zone conference was fire. Everyone had pretty good trainings and I definitely learned a lot. It was my first time leading a zone conference, so I was a little nervous, but it turned out alright. We also had a Christmas party that we planned right afterwards for the zone. I don't know why they assigned us to do it, we did an alright job, but I definitely feel like the STLs in the zone couldve done a lot better job
- all of the sisters had their cars taken so they could go trade them in, so they all had to learn how to taxi, and lucky for us, we had to teach them. On the ride to their apartment, we got a taxi driver who loved Eminem. We listened to Eminem for an hour straight while in this taxi. We were jamming!! My comp, the driver, a couple other people in the car, and myself of course, were going off rapping all the lyrics. Glad the mission veil didn't hit me too hard.
- ward Christmas party. It was supposed to start at 6. All of us in the apartment were getting super hyped up about it. Then we get there and totally realized that we forgot we live in Jamaica. Nobody got there until 7ish, food didn't get there until like after 8. We had to leave by like 7:15 to make it home for curfew, so that was a massive L. Disappointed all of us for sure. Can't wait for things to actually kinda start on time again.
- we met with some inactive members this week that got referred to us, some of them are pretty dope, hopefully we can get some of then to come back.
- we started meeting with a dope guy named Ryan. He seems pretty ready to receive the gospel. He's been a little MIA recently though, so keep him in your prayers
Spiritual thought:
I've been thinking a lot recently about the Saviors Atonement because of the season. Something that often gets neglected is the redeeming role that He has. He doesn't just save us, He perfects us, He perfects our efforts as we strive to follow His commandments
Love yall, big up
Elder Turnbow
