Wah gwan mi fadas, you good? Alright, alright, respec, big up. Hope yall are having a very very merry Christmas. I'll just get right into it
Highlights:
- we had exchanges with the APs. I went with Elder Provost and he's a dawg. I learned a lot from him about how to be a good, charitable leader. Definitely have been trying to apply that, and study charity that. I feel like there's been some improvement, but I can't be the one to judge that. We also hauled around one of their recent converts around to go teach lessons with us. We played some beats and he dropped some fire rap bars.
- We were able to get 2 of our friends on date this week. One for the 21st of January and one for the 14th of January. I know for sure one of them will go through, and we're working very hard to make sure the other one does as well.
- We were pon di way for some appointments the other day and I told this guy that I liked his shoes. They were knock off Clark's (Search them up, they're hype) and he suddenly starts coming at me trying trade me shoes. I tell him no, obviously, and he starts coming at me like "I'm a crazy black muthaf**** Jamaican. You should be scared of me right now" I was obviously not amused. After we calmed him down, we started to try and pros him up and convert him. We start talking about Jesus Christ, and the reason for the season and he starts going, " I think, no I KNOW I'm Christ." My companion verbally says "oh boy" we immediately walk away. Only in Jamaica. And probably other crazy places.
- I got the pleasure of going to 2 in-person district councils this week. Its crazy how much better it is in person compared to over zoom. I learn so much more it seems, and the spirit is definitely more prevalent there
- I played one round of dominos with some old guys and destroyed them they all had like 2 or 3 left when I had none. I later found out its because I cheated and nobody, including myself knew about it.
- we had our Christmas program yesterday in church. We have 2 wards in our building, so they combined it to make it extra festive I guess. Both of them don't even have the numbers to be a ward so it wasn't super crazy packed, but definitely more people than are in an usual sacrament meeting in Jamaica. There were some good musical numbers, but the whole thing was just crazy unorganized, so nothing unusual. Just Jamaica. Definitely can't wait for the Christmas sacrament meeting back home for sure.
Spiritual thought:
Backstory, in one of the in person district councils this week, one of the sisters were handing out WWJD bracelets. Its just a bracelet with those initials that stands for "What Would Jesus Do" for those who dont know wah gwan. So back to main story, we had a lesson with one of our friends, Ryan, who is on date. During the lesson, I had a prompting to give him my bracelet. Seeking listening, and acting on promptings of the spirit has been something that I've been trying to work on a lot recently, so I gave him the bracelet I was wearing, and told him to wear it every day. He's been struggling a lot recently, and I figured I was supposed to give it to him to help him remember that the Savior is always with him. The cool part is that my companion, Elder Gordon, told me right afterwards that he was just about to give Ryan his bracelet right as I did. He pulled up to church wearing it so that was pretty cool. I don't know for sure why we had the prompting to give the bracelet to him, but i have faith in my Lord & Savior. I know that blessings and miracles will come to those who listen and act on promptings. I encourage yall to always seek, listen, and act on them
Big up yuhselves and likkle more,
Elder Turnbow
