Wah gwan mi bredren. I hope that everything in all of yall's life is just dandy as usual. A lot of things happened this week, but it overall turned out just about how I imagined it being. Elder Lassche has been a lit comp and I'm just super excited to have a comp that will get down and go crazy crazy with me. I don't want to spoil any of the other highlights so let's get into it
Highlights:
- Last p-day we did all of Elder Walton's departing missionary things (I can't remember if I mentioned that last week or not)
- Dropped Elder Walton off at the airport. I feel like I'm right around the corner now and it's crazy.
- Our friend Neil Graham has been bugging recently. I've been teaching him the whole 3 months I've been here, and his desire and commitment is kind of slowing down. We're trying to have him marry his baby mudda, which is proving to be a whole lot more difficult than I imagined it being. He isn't getting any of the paper work to get it done, so we had a very pushy lesson to get him going. It seems to have worked. It still amazes me how sluggish the culture is here even after being out for 20ish months
- got a slushie from circle K
- Did a missionary orientation for a new Sister that lives in Jamaica that's staying here for reassignment.
- Took Elder Kitenge to the airport to go the Bahamas.
- We had MLC and it was good. It's taken us a while to figure out how to properly do goal setting since it's never really been a big thing to do district, zone, and mission monthly goals before President Britton came. It's been a fun learning curve and hopefully all the creases will be ironed out pretty quickly.
- Saturday was actually bussing. We were pretty far behind on our Key Indicators because of a couple of different reasons, but we got out early and got after it to catch up. In the end we found some cool people that were definitely prepared for us to go and meet, and were able to do some final preparations to get people to church.
- Had a decent showing at church of 6 people. Better than the last couple weeks, but not as good as I used to get in this area.
Spiritual thought:
I was studying the lessons in PMG this week and came across the topic of Grace. Grace has always been something that I think I understand, but always come back to study it later because I realize that I really didn't. It will probably be like this for the rest of my life as well. I read the talk "His Grace is Sufficient" by Brad Wilcox and I really like how he describes how amazing Christ's grace is. He talked a lot about how yes, the Atonement of Jesus Christ by itself allows us to receive physical salvation, or the ability to be resurrected. However, Christ's Atonement is also an investment in us. An investment that allows us to change and to eventually become perfected. He uses the term "learning heaven" quite a lot and I can't think of a better way to describe it.
Big up,
Elder Turnbow
