Sorry for not sending out an email last week. I'm sure that all 4 of you that read these were so deeply disappointed. I'll try to throw in double content for all of you because of the lack. 2 weeks ago was basically a normal week of working plus 2 exchanges. I'll give those highlights and more details later. This last week was full of zone conferences and MLC which included running around all day every day. I think I was up before 6:30 everyday and was out doing something all day long.
2 Weeks ago highlights:
- Gas p-day. usually we just have weekly planning in the mornings before actual Pday starts. This morning we decided to do a swift, but thorough weekly planning and went out and taught 2 in person lessons. No better way to start the day off.
- We had 2 exchanges. One was with the May Pen (Spanish Town Zone) Zone Leaders. I came back to Kingston with Elder Macfarlane for our 3rd exchange on our mission, and Elder Walton went with Elder Cruickshank. Always a good time. We also had one with Constant Springs (Kingston Zone) Zone Leaders. I spend a lot of time around them since we play basketball every morning with them and they're over the zone I'm assigned to. Elder Hamblin came back with me and Elder Walton went with Elder Petersen. 2 very solid exchanges. No complaints at all.
- We ended exchanges with the May Pen elders at the same time that they were having DC and they celebrated a couple of birthdays by having some cake. Of course we had to join and get a slice before heading back to Kingston
- We had some cool lessons with some of the unique friends that came to church. I forget how much fun it is to teach people that actually understand everything that I'm talking about and understand how life changing it is that the gospel has been restored!
- We spent a decent amount of time getting logistics figured out for off island missionaries to come in for zone conferences.
- found out that I got into BYU! let me know where y'all are staying and suggestions for what I should do for housing.
Last weeks highlights:
- Spent way too much time picking up people from airports, dropping them off at hotels, and getting food for them. It was fun seeing those missionaries since no one gets to see them too often.
- Had all of our zone conferences. We talked a lot about how to set good goals that will allow us to consistently and constantly grow and help as many people come to Christ as possible
- Because of said zone conferences, I've basically become a sound engineer. The first zone conference, all the mics were bugging out and just being dumb so I spent a good chunk of time figuring out how they actually work. The other 2 zone conferences were much better because of it.
- MLC was pretty good. We did a lot of discussing about how we can set goals and help people accomplish them the most effectively. Nothing too crazy, but really helpful for everyone I think.
- A lot of driving to get to all of the zones. It was worth it though because I was able to get good monsters from the only place to get them on the entire island. You already know I got a couple of them to last me. We had some fun times during the drives since we brought the office elders (Elder Davis and Elder Tondevold) with us so they could do car inspections.
- I got to do likkle bench press and was able to put up 225 still after losing 50 lbs
Spiritual thought:
We can't receive blessings from God if we aren't obedient to the commandments He has given us. I really like D&C 130:20-21. I've been stressing a little bit recently about how I'm supposed to be 100% obedient, or as close as I can to it, when I get home with so many more temptations around me. But I know the Lord will provide a way as I try.
Love you all. Send me an email. Big up,
Elder Turnbow
